Anyone willing to walk me thru installing scrubyt on Windowsxp?

Unfortunately I am not on win32 so I have no idea what’s this all about – hopefully someone can aid you (and the rest of the world, since a lot of people are still unable to install scRUBYt! on winxp) – until then, let me summarize the possibilities.

1. Out of the box – this seems to be the hardest option, though it seems to me that by the end of this thread people solved it somehow
2. Use cygwin
3. JscRUBYt! – you can download JscRUBYt! from here

it’s easy, just follow the steps written down by Paul:

the only complicated thing is:

you mußt use the good old DosBox cmd.exe for some steps – it’s a shell programm

and you must set a JAVA_HOME / JRUBY_HOME Variable & Path, as a “System” – Enviromentvariable/PATH

Over all – now problem, I walk throug in about 1/2 an hour, late yesterday night, until I stop at a problem witch one I can’t fix without deeper knowledge of ruby/java – I have ask allready Paul…

I have jruby working. But I’m stuck on these two steps: (Packaging JScrubyt) 4. Run jruby—command rake package 5. You should have a gem package scrubyt-0.3.4-jruby.gem in folder pkg

it was no Problem! Important is the exact syntax: jruby – & – command … at the first moment I tohgt a double minus, might by a typing error, but with one minus I get a compiling error, so I use them bose ’—’ and it works …

I have some problems with the instruction by Paul, I will try again this evening but didn’t make it very far on first attempt. Can anyone explain the more difficult steps in/ a little more detail. I will ask more specific questions after this evenings attempt to install.

I am also stuck on packaging of JScrubyt step any more help with this
